Psalm 34: 8 Taste and see that Jehovahis good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him.
Today is traditionally the day of love and romance, couples will no doubt be sitting down all over the country to partake in romantic meals together. This means that someone has taken the time and responsibility to choose and buy ingredients, select favourite recipes, and with enthusiasm prepare a lovers feast. The table will be set with love, flowers candles, beautiful place setting and intimate touches
. The bible tells us that God loved the world so much that he sent his only son: that who ever believed in him would not perish but have eternal life…….love is eternal and can be shared in a myriad of different ways: Sharing a beautiful meal in a lovely setting is one way we can show love. It does not have to be with the man or woman of our dreams, we can share a meal with a friend a neighbour a lonely widow a son or daughter a mother or father….there are many today who are seeking seeking seeking looking for somebody who can show them love wondering …is there a God.Any one of us can make a difference in the world it’s only one meal away….can you share a meal with someone today.
I recently read a very interesting article, it spoke about taking a scripture passage and using it out of the context in which it was written. Psalm 34 is one of my favourites it was written by King David when he was experiencing very traumatic times within his own family. The whole psalm cries out God’s help to the broken-hearted and those who are crushed in spirit, people going through difficult situations maybe through no fault of their own, a result perhaps of other people’s sin. Is there someone we may know who is experiencing heartbreaking circumstances in their life today, the loss of a husband or wife, the loss of a friend or a job, a frightening medical diagnosis. We see so much about food and cookery on our TV’s today, we are given so much inspiration and knowledge on hospitality….lets not just be idle watchers of these programmes …..lets reach out to someone in need today. If we are not a ‘ Christian’ we may not even realize it but we will be showing God’s love.
