Psa 127:1 A Song of degrees for Solomon. Unless Jehovah builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless Jehovah keeps the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.
In 1981 our family of 5 moved to Hampshire; to say we were amazed is an understatement. The previous year we had been blessed with our third child and had been trying to move to a larger house, without success, every house had fallen through;
But God had a plan for our lives. Unknown to us God had been designing a house especially for our growing family. Part-way through buying our third property, my husband was offered a job ‘down south’; we were living in the midlands at the time. So we raced down south to view properties, but we only saw 1. It was a brand new architect designed house ready to move into, furthermore it had 6!! Yes 6 patio doors. Now in the 1970’s to have a patio door was the ultimate in fashionable modern!! Six was just like a miracle (except I did not believe in miracles and I did not know God) and the one aspect in a property I really wanted was a patio door…..6!! amazing our God is a God of the incredible!! We moved in and have lived there for the last 32 years. It was there we had our fourth child, and it was there that I believed in Jesus Christ and became a Christian, This house has blessed us and many others during those 32 years, we have had many people staying with us, parties and fun entertaining, it was from this house that I started my own home catering business, I give God all the glory. Like a master chess player he moved us around until we were in the perfect places to fulfil our potential and our destiny.
Now our house is special, architect designed!! It had three small roofs as the house was made in three sections; to pull the whole house together we have 3…….. 12 foot patio doors. The roof needed to be replaced. I did not know how I was going to be able to do that, having four children our last was at university and we were supporting him, so for a while I had been praying and sharing my heart with the Lord and saying what about the roof?!!!!! Furthermore I had always vowed that if we ever sold the house on we would definitely replace the roof.
Our youngest finished university and now we are moving on…………………In January 2012 there was a terrible storm in which a neighbour’s tree was literally uprooted and fell on our roof. To cut a long story short the insurance are paying for a new rood and the incident is being called an ‘Act of God’
