Yesterday morning Noemi and I went out for coffee with two friends who had been here in Spain for a while and had mastered some of the ‘lingo’. After walking around a picturesque harbour (not the millionaire boats but very nice!) we sat down for coffee.
On such a beautiful day I said I would like iced coffee; my friends vocabulary did not seem to be able to stretch to that but he got the waiter to understand by asking for coffee with ice. Well you probably have already guessed – along came a very small cup of black coffee and a glass full of ice!
Not exactly what I wanted or was expecting but the waiter brought me exactly what my friend had asked for. We knew what we wanted and had a picture of it clearly in our minds but when the words left our mouths our pictures…
