16th April 2012:
Today was spent cleaning house and walking dogs for return of Minister and family, of course walking dogs, as usual. In the evening we went to Greshornish house for a candlelight supper. Greshornish; a Skye country house tucked away down a long single track road, when we reached the house we were blown away (metaphorically speaking) seeing a beautiful house with amazing views, the owner (Paul) even came to greet us, what a lovely reception. We really did have a lovely meal, maybe the best yet, I say this with tongue in cheek as we have also been to other famous restaurants on the island!! The table was beautifully laid with silver candelabra white fanned table napkins sparkling silverware, what a treat to have a lovely three course meal and be waited on by a Spanish waiter, it made us smile we tried not to think about a certain British classic TV programme. For starters we had a lovely scallop mousse in sauce, hubby had scotch soup, followed by (me) salmon and hubby venison, both delightful, finally I had an amazing chocolate ‘Nemesis’ slice of something delicious with a scoop of chocolate sorbet (I have always wanted to make chocolate sorbet and I think this will spur me on to ….have a go!!) John had pancakes with apples. After chatted with the lovely owners in their cosy bar, I thought I had a lot of cookery books!! LOL Reminisced re: food and menus and chefs and TV cookery programmes; lovely end to our house-sit adventure on the beautiful Isle of Skye.
